26: Attack Response
Release information to the public to help friends and allies craft the most effective response to attacks. Other Information:
ilence Is Not Always Golden; Public Sharing of Information Is Good -- It was a surprise to no one on the Republican side when
the Obama campaign began to define Governor Romney as unacceptable. The 2004 Bush campaign pursued the same effective strategy
against Senator John Kerry. However, the sound of silence from our side in response to the damaging attacks must never happen
again. Many post-election analyses correctly conclude that our side was never able to recover from these attacks once we let
them stand with minimal response. Our friends and allies must not let this happen again. These organizations must expand their
thought processes to include considering positive advocacy of candidates they support as well as negative advocacy against
candidates they oppose. Moreover, our nominee's team must release information to the public to help friends and allies craft
the most effective response.
