The UN University has an important mandate to function as a think tank for the United Nations system. For the UNU to play this role, it must make continuous efforts to assure the quality of its research and teaching programmes and the efficacy of its knowledge dissemination and sharing activities. UNU strives to establish its graduate degree programmes in full concurrence with the mandate of the University to generate and teach policy relevant science in a holistic and interdisciplinary context. These features should be brought in to the intended joint degree schemes but will definitely characterize degree programmes UNU may launch on its own.
