1: Identification
Information regarding proposed components is registered, indexed, and made available for browsing and searching. Anyone may
identify an ET component or specification.
Other Information:
During Stage 1 of the ET.gov process components are identified by following the two-step process indicated in hyperlinks in
the menu on all of the main pages of the site. Alternatively, users can download the schema and use their own XML authoring
software to create and post the instance document on the Web and then proceed directly to step 2. Adobe has provided a prototype
form (requires Acrobat/Reader 7) and, hopefully, other vendors will do likewise for the benefit of their customers. Components
that have been identified thus far can be discovered by searching and browsing on the Search Components screen. Please note
that the search capabilities we are able to provide are resource constrained. For example, we are unable to provide the capability
to search and browse against all facets of our schema. However, since the source documents are in valid XML format and freely
available on the Web, anyone can index them. To facilitate such services, we are providing a listing of the URLs at http://www.et.gov/component_list.aspx
For example, i411 and BTS have provided a prototype of an enhanced, faceted search service at http://etgov.i411.com If and,
hopefully, when any other service providers choose to provide enhanced search capabilities and their sites conform to our
linking policies, we will be happy to provide such additional links for the benefit of our stakeholders. If you are aware
of any additional services indexing ET.gov instance documents, please use the Contact ET.gov mailto link on the site to let
us know about them.
