Create and sustain an environment in which collaboration and cooperation are the norm, and a suite of state-of-the-practice tools are readily available to support collaboration in many different ways. Other Information: One essential element of diplomacy is collaboration. We have done much in recent years to go beyond in-person collaboration and use technology in innovative ways, and we have plans to expand these efforts in new directions. The goal is to create and sustain an environment in which collaboration and cooperation are the norm, and a suite of state-of-the-practice tools are readily available to support collaboration in many different ways. A challenge we face in this area is that our work often involves classified and other sensitive information. This requires that we have robust risk management programs and appropriate IT security in place to ensure that we can fulfill our mission and share information broadly, while protecting sensitive information assets appropriately. The Department’s effectiveness is highly dependent on its ability to work in partnership with many different kinds of organizations. We collaborate actively with the US public, citizens of other countries, other Federal agencies, non-federal governments (including tribal governments), non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and foreign government agencies.
