Standards of Practice -- All professions have standards of practice. Such standards are a benefit to those who wish to be
certified and those employing their services. Standards are usually based on a mixture of academic qualifications, practical
training, experience and a commitment to continuous professional development. All are based on a generally accepted body of
knowledge, and are usually internationally recognised. Generally, they are promoted and maintained by a widely-respected professional
body.
