Mobile computing is in its infancy in government. The private sector sees the benefits of mobile computing. By creating mobile
applications, employees have the ability to work almost anywhere and at anytime. Employees benefit because it frees them from
long commutes into an office location simply to access a software application specific to their job. Employers benefit from
lower facilities cost. More productive workers spend less time commuting and more time working. Mobile computing can offer
these same benefits to government employees. But, perhaps equally important, when the federal government offers mobile applications
to the public, more citizen engagement is possible.
