Employees, stakeholders, and the general public were encouraged to provide their own ideas for open government at DOL via a General Services Administration provided platform: www.opendol.ideascale.com. We received 136 ideas through this process, which in turn received 1023 votes. The top three most popular ideas involved • Creating stronger policies to protect the right of DOL scientists to speak with the public and the media; • Providing live webcasts of all meetings for proposed rule making and regulations where the public comment should take place; and • Increasing awareness of the platform itself. These and other ideas influenced the development of this plan and our overall strategy. The full list of ideas were tagged by appropriate agency and forwarded for response. A full inventory of these ideas and responses will be posted to www.dol.gov/open by May 1, 2010.
