The Commission renders formal recommendations on major policy or park management decisions in a limited number of cases each
year. Typically, advice comes in the form of decisions, commission reaction, public comment, and sometimes a statement of
consensus at commission meetings. Commission recommendations are given strong pre-decisional consideration by park management,
although final decisions are always reserved for park management.In FY 2011, recommendations were made for continuation of
current commercial use permits, and for the alternatives presented in the EA for the Preservation and Use Plan for the Dune
Shacks of the Peaked Hill Bars Historic District.
