- Mission [1]
- The State Energy Advisory Board (STEAB) supports the Department of Energy’s (DOE) mission and strategic goals to protect our
national and economic security, and to promote a diverse supply and delivery of reliable, affordable, and environmentally
sound energy. The Board supports this mission by developing recommendations regarding initiation, design, evaluation, and
implementation of Federal energy efficiency and renewable energy programs, policies and technologies. Per its legislative
mandate, the Board reports these recommendations directly to the Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
(EERE). The recommendations are submitted to the Assistant Secretary in the form of Resolutions. These Resolutions aim to
pinpoint and ensure State and local programs are working to promote energy efficiency, conservation, and are striving towards
achieving overall national goals as determined by the Department of Energy. Additionally, STEAB serves as a liaison between
individual States and the Department of Energy with regard to energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. In this capacity
as a liaison, the Board offers a forum through which Federal, State, and local voices can be heard at the Department of Energy.
STEAB has utilized a myriad of differnt avenues such as Task Forces, teleconference calls, live meetings, white-papers and
working-papers to focus, meet and advise upon current and future challenges for EERE.
