Enabling Goal: Workforce & Work Environment Maintain a high quality and motivated workforce and provide the environment to support them Other Information: The President’s Management Agenda initiative on the management of human capital challenges federal agencies to make the federal government more citizen-centered by strengthening front-line services and providing an efficient organization. The Census Bureau will use strategic workforce planning and flexible tools to recruit, retain, and reward employees and continue to develop a high-performing workforce. We are developing strategies to retain and share the knowledge of our employees. And we are examining our core competencies to assess whether to build internal capacity or contract for services. Supporting a highly skilled workforce also means ensuring that they have the tools needed to do their jobs well -- including a safe and productive workplace, accurate and timely financial and management information, and secure and continuous computer and other systems.
