Objective 5.2: Trust & Cooperation Foster trust and cooperation of the public by respecting privacy and protecting the confidentiality of respondents’ information Other Information: The Census Bureau is committed to safeguarding the public’s privacy and maintaining the confidentiality of the data it collects. Because increasingly sophisticated computer searches and data linkages threaten the Census Bureau’s traditional approaches to protecting confidentiality, new approaches have been developed and further research is ongoing. Industry research indicates that privacy and confidentiality continue to blur in the public’s mind. Strategies and means: * Enhance the Census Bureau-wide privacy and confidentiality program to fully integrate data stewardship policies and practices across all programs. * Continue to assess possible disclosure risks in data products and develop methodologies to address any concerns. Measuring performance: * Percent of the U.S. population who cooperate in data collection activities. * Percent of employees who are trained and aware of data stewardship policies. * Percent of systems/projects having a completed Privacy Impact Assessment.
