The ACT Government will continue to implement the planning system that came into effect on 31 March 2008. The system introduced
new processes for tracking development assessment, added new terminology and structure to the Territory Plan, altered contemporary
environmental assessment methods and introduced stronger compliance mechanisms. The system, which aims to be simpler, faster
and more transparent, represents leading practice in Australia.
