In 2006, around 22 per cent of the ACT population aged 15 years and over had undertaken voluntary work in the 12 months prior
to the 2006 census night, which was the highest in Australia and well above the Australian average of 18 per cent. The ACT
Government recognises the importance of people working together to provide community support to help others.
