City taxpayers deserve to know what service levels they receive for their tax dollars. That’s why each department should post their performance goals, measures and targets online at the beginning of the fiscal year – and provide a quarterly update on measured results where practical. At the end of the fiscal year, all performance measures should be reported – comparing targets to actual results. For any target not met, departments should also provide explanation of how the department will improve its performance in the coming fiscal year.
