4.5: Training and Mentoring

Develop mechanisms to improve training and mentoring for Program Officers.

Other Information:

NSF will increase efforts to identify and disseminate best program management practices. Training and development are particularly important for “rotators” who bring valuable expertise and new ideas to the organization but stay for a limited amount of time, normally less than two years. We expect program officers to exercise their professional judgment.
