6.1.6: Seat Time and Other Assumptions Convene states and education leadership organizations to identify and rethink basic assumptions in our education system, starting with but not limited to the measurement of educational attainment through seat time. Other Information: Other assumptions that should be reexamined are the organization of students into static age-determined groups and the organization of learning into classes of roughly equal size, as well as the structure of separate academic disciplines. The use of online learning and combining offline and online learning to provide options for flexibility, additional learning time, and more effective use of the time allotted should be explored.
