2: Gravity and Energy
Explore the ultimate limits of gravity and energy in the universe Other Information:
The universe is filled with invisible magnetic fields and traversed by cosmic rays of unknown origin. A Space Station experiment
will analyze the composition of cosmic rays, attempt to identify their origin, and derive information about the pervasive
magnetic fields. NASA will, in the middle of this decade, use the Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope to detect gamma rays
— very short wave length electromagnetic radiation — emitted by black holes and other unidentified sources. An ambitious joint
mission with the ESA will measure gravitational radiation, opening a new window on the universe.
