Require academic staff to secure funding to support his/her own research

Other Information:

While fundraising at the institutional level is necessary in order to increase core funding, the needed increase in revenue will require efforts of all academic staff. The past practice of using core funds to provide academic staff with support for a variety of research and capacity building activities is not sustainable. The institute will set clear expectations for revenue generation for each academic staff member. The institute will provide basic infrastructure, startup-funds for new academic staff, seed funds to support initiation of new activities, and possible matching funds to assist in securing grants.
