| Documents/IIST/2: Strategic Goals/2.11: Macau, Hong Kong, and China |
2.11: Macau, Hong Kong, and China Strengthen relations with Macau, Hong Kong, and mainland China Other Information: Measures: participation in government projects, membership in government planning boards, joint projects and joint research centers with local universities, increased support from the Macau government. Given the steadfast support UNU-IIST enjoys from the government of Macau SAR, the institute needs to ensure that Macau SAR derives benefit from its presence. Macau is currently in a phase of great economic prosperity and the government is looking to invest in projects that will contribute to long-term sustainable development, including higher education. Through its research and international network, UNU-IIST has an important potential role to play as an intellectual resource for the government and industry of Macau and as a partner for the universities in Macau. Demonstrating value as a partner responsive to the needs of Macau and its institutions is key to the institute‟s argument for increased resources. Through substantial dialog with the government of Macau and with local universities, the institute will clarify the value that it brings and will identify and pursue activities to increase that value. This extends to mainland China as well. In addition, the institute will seek partnership with universities in Hong Kong and mainland China. Stakeholder(s): Indicator(s):
