Strategies and technologies for education -- The program will endeavor to exploit the opportunities that information technology provides for creating more engaging and effective learning environments, including technologies such as computer games and social networking, and will explore how to use interactive learning systems to gather information about how people learn. The program is developing intelligent systems and virtual reality environments for the training of medical professionals. It is also examine ways of embedding assessment capabilities in collaborative learning systems, which will allow researchers to better understand factors affecting student problem-solving behavior, learning rates, and learning outcomes. The program will explore the extent to which learning and assessment can be supported through the use of mobile phones in order to serve the needs of developing countries.
