Establish an agenda of research, policy support, education and capacity building focusing on the electronic governance needs of developing countries, particularly as they relate to sustainable development. Other Information: Electronic governance for sustainable development -- The program is an outgrowth of the electronic governance program that has been ongoing at UNU-IIST since 2004. Through hands-on collaborations with governments in Macao, Afghanistan and Cameroon, along with relevant accompanying research, UNU-IIST has developed broad expertise in the ways in which ICT can transform the workings of governments and their relationships with citizens. An acknowledged leader in the field, the institute has provided extensive e-governance training to civil servants and established links with other research institutes engaged in similar activities. The program will now concentrate on establishing an agenda of research, policy support, education and capacity building focusing on the electronic governance needs of developing countries, particularly as they relate to sustainable development.
