How We Will Accomplish Our Objective: Prevention: - Provide financial assistance to community-based injury, suicide, and violence prevention programs. - Disseminate information on how to prevent injuries and violence, such as use of seat belts, to public safety and community-based organizations, employers, the elderly, schools, and youth. - Disseminate information to industry on ways to improve workplace safety. - Provide technical assistance to hospitals and public health agencies on how to improve surveillance and monitoring activities for injuries in order to devise more effective methods of prevention. - Promote the development and improvement of state and tribal safety legislation. - Conduct research on the causes and risk factors for violence and injuries, and develop more effective prevention strategies. Treatment: - Educate health and human service providers on recognizing the symptoms of violence-related injuries, and develop and disseminate effective protocols for addressing the needs of those affected by violence.
