Enhance our knowledge of the structural and behavioral relationships in the macroeconomic and financial markets, and improve the quality of the data used to gauge economic performance, through developmental research activities.

This objective will be pursued in part through the following action: • Staff will undertake research into the broad range of topics relevant to the conduct of monetary policy. In the period ahead, this research will focus especially on the consequences for the behavior of the economy of low rates of inflation, advancing technology, financial market innovation and deregulation, and globalization.
