FOIA REQUESTS - Overall Structure. The Department has a very large and decentralized FOIA Program, with operations at hundreds of FOIA offices worldwide. The Department’s Chief FOIA Officer is the Director of Administration and Management in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. This senior Department official directs and oversees the Department’s FOIA Program, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures governing administration of the program. The overall program Web site, including governing documents, reports and assistance in making requests can be found at http://www.dod.gov/pubs/foi/dfoipo/index.html. Additionally, the Defense Freedom of Information Policy Office serves as the responsible action office for providing FOIA policy guidance to the Department of Defense on behalf of the Director of Administration and Management.
