Dependability and Efficiency of Information Technology

Other Information:

Information technology is a key tool that supports the accomplishment of mission goals; technology can significantly advance the effectiveness and efficiency of programs and help employees to be more productive. Information technology can also help Interior to address increasingly complex challenges in managing a large and geographically dispersed organization. Interior's vision is developing and providing the right mix of information technology products and services at a lower cost while delivering greater service to employees and customers. To realize this vision, the Department is implementing a series of technology innovations and efficiencies to deliver improved services at a lower cost, including consolidation of infrastructure and shifting commodity technology services from in-house delivery mechanisms to capable external providers. These efforts will yield benefits in improved sustainability, reduced carbon footprint, and energy and efficiency savings.
