Fund projects that will reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign energy imports, curb U.S. energy-related emissions, and improve energy efficiency across all sectors of the U.S. economy Other Information: The Advanced Projects Research Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) was authorized by the 2007 America COMPETES Act to fund projects that will reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign energy imports, curb U.S. energy-related emissions, and improve energy efficiency across all sectors of the U.S. economy. The initial funding for ARPA-E, $400 million, was provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. In March 2010, the Department of Energy hosted the inaugural ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit in Washington, DC as an opportunity for the country’s energy leaders to share ideas and identify key technology opportunities in the field. The Summit showcased many of the winning research projects from the first funding round. Approximately 1,300 attendees participated in the Summit. Stakeholder(s): Indicator(s):
