Promoter/Advocate: The Davenport Institute believes that citizen engagement produces better policy solutions and better citizens. To this end, the leadership of the Davenport Institute promotes the process of citizen engagement through speeches, op-eds, and other opportunities, like the "A Place in the World" conference hosted with the Pepperdine School of Public Policy. In addition we have worked for three years with California Forward and the Center for Civic Engagement to produce the California Civic Health Index, measuring how engaged Californians are in both formal and informal types of civic participation.
