- The Committee advises the Secretary on issues related to the administration of VA benefits for women Veterans. Committee members
maintain a strong liaison within the women Veterans' community, national veterans service organizations, and other special
interest groups concerned about Veterans issues. Members actively participate in programs that address womens' issues. Additionally,
members periodically visit local VA facilities, and conduct meetings with women Veterans who are consumers of VA services.
The Committee is briefed annually by senior VA officials and program managers regarding initiatives for women Veterans, and
openly discuss their concerns with VA representatives. In this way, the Committee monitors changes from both the Department
and consumer perspectives. The Committee prepares a biennial report, identifying areas of progress and concerns. The report
also includes specific recommendations that address unresolved issues and problems.
