- Mission [1]
- This Resource Advisory Committee (RAC)is mandated by Congress, under section 205 of PL 106-393, the Secure Rural Schools and
Community Self-Determination Act of 2000. The Committee was established for two purposes: (1) to improve collaborative relationships
among the people who use and care for the National Forests and the Forest Service, which manages the lands; and(2) to provide
advice and recommendations to the Forest Service in identifying and implementing broadly supported land management projects
that maintain existing infrastructure, enhance forest ecosystems, and improve land health and water quality. The RAC directly
supports the agency's mission goal for ecosystem health: to "Promote ecosystem health and conservation using a collaborative
apporach to sustain the Nations's forests, grasslands, and watersheds."
