- Mission [1]
- The Collaborative Forest Restoration Program (CFRP) Technical Advisory Panel evaluates grant proposals for forest restoration
projects on public forestland that include a diverse and balanced group of stakeholders. The Panel uses a consensus-based
process to develop recommendations for the Forest Service on which proposals best meet the objectives of the Program. The
Panel provides a venue for key stakeholders with an interest in forest restoration and small diameter tree utilization to
develop agreement on how to accomplish those tasks on public forestland. The Panel and the grant proposals they recommend
support the agencies' 10-Year Comprehensive Strategy Implementation Plan, which describes “A Collaborative Approach for Reducing
Wildland Fire Risk to Communities and the Environment.” The Panel and the CFRP implement the Collaborative Framework and the
Monitoring and Evaluation elements of the Strategy, which direct the agency to collaborate with local government and interested
stakeholders on the development and implementation of forest restoration treatments. The Panel improves communication and
joint problem solving among individuals and groups who are interested in restoring the diversity and productivity of forested
watersheds in New Mexico and encourages sustainable communities and sustainable forest though collaborative partnerships.
This effort supports the agency mission to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the Nation’s forests to meet
the needs of present and future generations.
