Preserve and enhance the Presidio’s rich historical, cultural, and natural resources

The Presidio is a National Historic Landmark District with 46914 historic buildings, well preserved archeological resources, and diverse designed landscapes, including a forest planted at the end of the 19th century. The Presidio also has important natural resources, including native plant communities, wildlife, and rare riparian habitats. Taken together, these resources and attributes are the reason that the Presidio is being preserved as a national park. The objectives and activities identified in this strategic goal will safeguard and enhance these resources, bringing forth the Presidio’s character as a park.
