4.14: Commercial and Industrial Development Promote continued development of a sustainable city by facilitating appropriate development at Civic and the town centres through the new Territory Plan. Other Information: The ACT Land Release Strategy 2008–09 provides for the release of 100,000 square metres each for commercial and industrial land to facilitate continued economic and employment growth for Canberra in the short to medium term. The continued development of a sustainable city will be promoted by facilitating appropriate development at Civic and the town centres through the new Territory Plan. A number of studies are currently investigating the infrastructure capacity at Civic and town centres and will provide advice on needed improvements and the investment required to accommodate additional activity. Fyshwick, Hume and Mitchell will continue to meet demands for industrial development in the short to medium term through the take-up of existing land and the logical extension of the existing developments.
