IDABC coordinates common rules for collaboration and related infrastructure projects. SEMIC.EU is one of IDABC’s infrastructure measures. It promotes the reuse of syntactic (e.g. XML schemas) and semantic assets (e.g. ontologies, taxonomies) needed for semantic interoperability. Interoperability assets are made available to European public administrations in a public web repository. The project responds to the request to "share experiences and solutions" that is postulated in the i2010 Initiative.
