Asset Management

Other Information:

Asset management involves the entire organization and is a cross-functional task. Asset management is a process that involves tracking information about agency assets, including purchase dates, maintenance, software licensing and distribution, auditing, and change management through the asset life cycle. IT asset categories include: hardware, software, mobile and telecommunication devices. The OCIO is responsible for ensuring the establishment of an effective IT asset management tool that will reduce government waste, make more efficient use of warranties and maintenance, reduce legal exposure for or over-purchase of software licenses, optimize equipment use, strengthen internal controls and increase the overall efficiency of helpdesk operations. The OCIO is in the process of implementing an Asset Management System (AMS) and the associated policies, procedures and processes.
