Inter-Institute Collaboration -- To the extent possible, the Institutes should work collaboratively, sharing resources, best practices, and research and development results. They should transparently share funding and membership models, annual reports, and projections. The Institutes are not directly competitive, as IMIs will have diverse goals, but rather they will share the broad mission of improving U.S. manufacturing competitiveness. To support these goals, the NNMI will organize a Network Leadership Council composed of representatives of the Institutes, Federal agencies, and other appropriate entities. The Network Leadership Council will actively look for opportunities to leverage existing resources between Institutes.
