In a relatively static print-based world with few information providers of any real significance, NISO could make decisions
early in the standards cycle to see a few standards through to their completion and ongoing maintenance. In a rapidly evolving
world with many information providers of significance, NISO must evaluate each standards activity against the needs of the
changing landscape. When a standard no longer serves NISO's mission, NISO will act as a bridge and find a more appropriate
organization to maintain it and to extend it if appropriate.
