NCDD has gone full steam ahead when it comes to its conferences, its website, and other programs, but we kept ourselves too
busy with our activities to take care of some of the vital tasks that are the backbone of successful nonprofit organizations.
We were privileged to find supportive organizations willing to serve as fiscal agents for us so that we could receive funds
from foundations, but it is time that we became an official 501c3 organization and managed our funds directly. We have also
found ways to govern the organization collaboratively during each of the conferences, and to a lesser extent between the first
and second conference, but now that we have an active Steering Committee and Board of Directors, we need to establish sound,
effective governance procedures that we can use for years to come.
