2: Organizational Sustanance
Sustain our efforts and our organization Other Information:
NCDD benefited greatly from the support of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation in our first years of existence, but like
many organizations in this and related fields, we need to find other sources of funding now that Hewlett has ended its conflict
resolution program. Our conferences, so far, have been financially successful, but the funds raised at the biennial conferences
cannot support the entire organization. In addition to seeking grants from foundations, we need to be creative. We need to
ask ourselves, what can we create that has value, and that others cannot or do not create? We also need to ask our members
to contribute to the organization if they are able to. Furthermore, the interviews conducted with leaders in the field yielded
the following strategic insight for sustainability: NCDD needs to be purposeful about not being overly focused internally,
but instead needs to reach out to people who are not like-minded, to those who are external to the organization. We need to
reach outside the "D&D Community" to show the potential of these processes, to create more interest in and readiness for the
work, and to share the benefits of dialogue and deliberation.
