9: Farmer-to-Farmer Program

Provide opportunities for American farmers and agribusiness professionals to assist farmers in Senegal and Zambia.

Other Information:

NCBA's CLUSA International provides an opportunity for American farmers and agribusiness professionals to assist farmers in Senegal and Zambia through the USAID-funded Farmer-to-Farmer program. CLUSA International draws upon a pool of volunteers knowledgeable in agriculture, cooperative development, finance, insurance, energy, technology and housing. With no agenda other than a desire to help people, our volunteers provide training in cooperative development, soil fertility, integrated pest management, millet processing and warehousing, agricultural marketing and many other subjects. CLUSA International provides logistical and financial support for each volunteer’s mission while in the country. CLUSA staff travel with each volunteer to provide logistical and translation services.

Stakeholder(s):

  • VolunteersMost volunteers are not international development professionals. They are farmers and agribusiness professionals that work in the fields in which they provide training. Many NCBA members participate in the program, but not all volunteers are NCBA members.
