Deepen our emphasis on women’s empowerment and gender equality

International IDEA shall endeavour to deepen its emphasis on women’s empowerment and gender equality in all its work streams and areas of impact. It will go beyond the purely quantitative aspects of gender-based inequality to promote positive change in the form of a more equal influence and impact of women and men in politics. International IDEA’s work in this area remains anchored in global agreements and frameworks, such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), the Beijing Declaration and Platform of Action, the third Millennium Development Goal and UN Security Council Resolution 1325.
