- The Literature Selection Technical Advisory Committee supports the agency's mission by advising on matters of policy relating
to the evaluation and recommendation of biomedical publications to be considered for indexing and inclusion in MEDLINE and
Index Medicus. The Committee meets its mission as judged by the quality of journals recommended for inclusion in MEDLINE and
by the steady growth in access of the database. The Committee is cognizant of DHHS and NIH research initiatives and agendas
relating to the reduction of health disparities and healthy people 2010 goals. The Committee advises on emerging fields of
medicine and tries to improve the representation of journals from underrepresented geographic areas.
