    • The National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice (NACNEP) support the Department's strategic goals related to increasing the percentage of the Nation’s children and adults who have access to health care services and expanding consumer choices, and to improving the quality of health care services. NACNEP's strategic plan identifies 6 goals: (1) to assure access to health care through an adequate supply and improved composition, diversity and distribution of the nursing workforce; (2) to improve the quality of nursing education and practice through evidence-based outcomes; (3) to support interdisciplinary research, education, and practice through collaborative activities with other Councils, and through public and private partnerships to improve quality of care and patient safety; (4) to assess, analyze, disseminate, and monitor nursing workforce data and to make recommendations based on the anaylsis of that data; (5) to enhance the nursing workforce's ability to effectively utilize infomation technology in education and practice; and (6) to enhance the image, presence, and influence of nursing in policy, practice and public arenas.
