  • Mission [1]
    • The goal of NIH research is to acquire new knowledge to help prevent, detect, diagnose, and treat disease and disability, from the rarest genetic disorder to the common cold. The NIH mission is to uncover new knowledge that will lead to better health for everyone. NIH works toward that mission by engaging the Director's Consumer Liaison Group (DCLG) of the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The DCLG identifies and responds to issues and challenges facing the Institute and provides advice to the NCI Director around approaches to enhance community input, optimize community outreach, and promote effective collaborations that will help address these challenges and lead to improved research outcomes. To this end, DCLG members provide relevant, non-scientific skills and perspectives to develop new approaches, promote innovation, recognize unforeseen risks or barriers, and identify unintended consequences that could result from NCI decisions.
