Between FY 1994 and FY 2011, the Council produced approximately eighty recommendations. Although there we no recommendations
from the Council in FY 2011, members suggested SAMHSA act as a matchmaker for academics interested in on-the-ground research
in community programs;SAMHSA might consider making available: (1) a side-by-side product analysis of information systems,
record systems, etc., in terms of functionalities and (2) a model set of specifications in contracts that a community-based
provider might adopt and use for bids to solicit and engage vendors; learn from other models and apply to the treatment community;
position behavioral health as a public health threat and make it as important as salmonella in tomatoes was to the Center
for Disease Control; and a health team should include peer supports who can be helpful in recovery.
