- CDC's mission is to promote health and quality of life by preventing and controlling disease, injury, and disability. The
agency accomplishes its mission by working with partners to monitor health, develop and advocate sound public health policies,
and implement prevention strategies. The Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee supports CDC's mission
by providing input into CDC's guidelines and recommendations for prevention of healthcare associated infections and improvement
of patient safety.
