Description Not met - The financial benefits reported for this goal in fiscal year 2009 totaled $12.1 billion, which missed the target we set by $1.3 billion. We describe this and other goal 1 accomplishments in the goal 1 section of appendix 1. Because financial benefits often result from work completed in prior years, we set our fiscal year 2009 target on the basis of our assessment of the progress agencies are making in implementing our past recommendations. Our analysis indicates that financial benefits in the future for goal 1 are likely to decrease from fiscal year 2009. However, we have set the target for fiscal year 2010 at $13.4 billion, based on multiyear financial benefits that may accrue from certain work in this area.
