- The Office of Inspector General (OIG) conducts independent and objective audits, inspections, evaluations, investigations,
and other reviews related to the programs and operations of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Board) and
the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (Bureau). Through this work, the OIG promotesintegrity, economy, efficiency, and
effectiveness; helps prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse; and strengthensthe agencies' accountability to Congress and
the public. Through our oversight role, the OIG supports - the Board in fostering the stability, integrity, and efficiency
of the nation's monetary, financial, and payment systems to promote optimal macroeconomic performance; and - the Bureau in
implementing and enforcing federal consumer financial law to ensure that consumers have access to fair, transparent, and competitive
financial markets, products, and services.
