5: Strategic Goal 5
The Department provides support for enhancing the quality of and access to postsecondary and adult education and employment
in multiple ways. The Department’s programs provide financial aid to increase access to college; help institutions of higher
education improve their quality; provide mentoring and tutoring services to help students master the knowledge needed to get
into and complete college; inform middle and high school students about what it takes to go to college; provide needed support
to help people with disabilities achieve employment; and provide support to adults in meeting more basic educational needs.
The Department will work to improve the effectiveness of all institutions, including four-year schools, community colleges,
technology-based programs and others.
