  • Mission [1]
    • On February 12, 2002, President George W. Bush signed Executive Order 13256, which is designed to enhance federal funding to America’s historically Black colleges universities (HBCUs). The White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities provides administrative support to the Board to ensure successful implementation of Executive Order (E.O.) 13256. This support has resulted in implementation of numerous recommendations impacting legislative and policy decisions, greater private sector involvement and increase visibility for HBCUs, the U.S. Department of Education and the White House Initiative Office. The Board meets regularly, makes committee reports, and listens to testimony and presentations by interested persons, organizations, and agencies regarding the progress of these institutions and the impact of this presidential mandate. In September 2008, the Board directed the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities staff to publish the FY 06 and FY 07 Annual Reports to the President and the Secretary of Education in accordance to E.O. 13256. Committee was terminated by EO 13532.
