    • Congress created the Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance (the Committee) as an independent source of advice and counsel to Congress and the Secretary of Education on higher education and student financial aid policy. The Committee’s legislative charge is to conduct objective, nonpartisan, and independent analyses on a broad range of Title IV student assistance programs, the most important of which is to make recommendations for improvements that will maintain and enhance equal access to and persistence in postsecondary education for all students.
